About

The boring professional version: ADR Forte is the author of erotic short stories which have appeared in numerous print and e-book collections, including the noted Best Women’s Erotica edited by Violet Blue. Her work also appears in collections from key writers and editors in the genre such as Alison Tyler, D.L. King and Cecilia Tan.

The other juicy stuff: I live in Texas- honorary, not native. But I do drive a Ford truck (with a Darwin fish on the back of it) and I can shoot a shotgun and a rifle. (Whether I can hit anything I aim at is a different story.) My household consists of 3 neurotic cats (one is on valium. Seriously), 2 large and bouncy white german shepherds and 1 very nice husband. I have an affinity for skeletons, dragons and tattoos of skeletons and dragons. I also think the neighbors are afraid of me. Can’t imagine why though.

I spend a seriously excessive amount of time that I’d rather use for writing making up numbers doing analysis and consulting for a large, Dilbertesque corporation that’s on some 500 or 1000 list. But it pays for kibble and bacon, which are important. Also, curry is one of the greatest things ever invented.

The writing:  I began writing with the intent to publish professionally ten years ago, but it has been a lifelong thing. Not a hobby or a love or a dream. It’s something more hardwired than that. My brain thinks about things in paragraphs of narrative, and I never grew out of imaginary friends- we just call them Characters and Scenes and stuff now.

I believe that being a writer begins with being a storylover: having a desire to come up with stories, but also to read them and hear them and experience them. I spend the gas money on books regularly. I dig movies: the cheesy action ones and the dialogue-ridden period pieces, and the serious indie ones with subtitles. I love stories and I’m also a storyteller. That’s why this page is here and you, dear reader, are here.  I hope my stories are as much a pleasure for you to read as they were for me to write.

Why smut? I suppose I could simply say I’m a perve. Which is true, by some people’s definition, I undoubtedly qualify. But I’m also a romantic. While I’ll never claim to write romance, I think what draws me to the characters and stories I come up with is the passion, the powerful emotions that go along with unbridled lust, and the fascinating interaction between people when they’re caught up in that whirlwind.

I think it’s the same reason my other writing habit is fantasy. The fantastic, the romantic, the forbidden all draw us into something bigger than ordinary, larger than life, something exciting. They make for the greatest stories.

And then, of course, there’s that bit about me being a perve.
